I'm so excited that you're considering picking me to take your senior portraits!
A little bit about me, here are the top 5 things you should know.
Wellll, those are some interesting factoids about me. Hope it gives you a little bit of an idea of who I am. If you want to hear more of my story and how I came into doing senior photography, go ahead and keep on scrolling (FYI there will be pictures of my doggo). If not feel free to check out the other pages on my website.
So I see you’ve decided to stick around for the whole story, alrighty well here it is. Like most photographers, I think I developed an interest at a young age. I remember picking up my parents' old 8mm video camera, you know, the kind where you had to use tapes? From there I progressed to using my dad's digital camera, snapping pics of trees, flowers, sunsets, walls... basically anything. All in all, I think it's safe to say I've loved photography for a while.
My favorite though? Portraits, people, expressions. I love being able to capture the moment, the precise instant where a smile lights up someone's face. To capture a moment in time and be able to preserve it forever. It's priceless. That said, you might wonder how I came to want to do photography professionally. Well, that's a funny story actually...
As a 2020 graduate, I can say that graduation photos are soooo important. They get to preserve 12 years' worth of accomplishments and speak to a future that is wide open.
Now, as mentioned, graduating in 2020... well we'll just say it wasn't what I'd dreamed of for years. Like many others, I didn't get to walk the stage and get my diploma, I couldn't have that fantastic party I'd been planning, and I had to DIY my senior portraits (which, yes, is exactly as complicated as it sounds).
Want an example? Yeah, that's right, I took this photo myself. I had to set the self-timer, run in front of the camera, pose, and then just hope it was in focus. Pretty sure I knocked my camera over at one point, thankfully it was not harmed. So like I said, my senior portraits weren't quite what I'd expected but they did give me some great practice and gave me my first real experience with senior portraits.
However, going through that and looking back I still miss what I wasn't able to have because of covid. But it did help me find the type of photography that I really enjoyed. The more I thought about it the more running my own little photography business made sense. So I started experimenting a bit and I got to do family photos, senior portraits, weddings, and even mom and son photos. Any guesses as to what I found I liked the most? Yep, that's right, senior portraits!
I love being able to work with graduates. It is such a blast! They're excited to finish school and that enthusiasm is contagious and it makes for some great creativity which produces some absolutely great pics. Getting to use my camera to capture amazing moments is so rewarding!
That's a part of taking photographs that has consistently brought me joy throughout the years and I hope to be able to capture those beautiful moments for a long time to come. And what's amazing about this form of art is that it gives me the chance to work with some awesome people (like you!) and allows me the freedom to have both a job and the time to do many of the things that are important to me in my life. Including spending time with my family and my pup. As promised here are some pics of my girl, Delta Blue. She is about 4 years old and still hasn't lost her playful puppy personality. She loves going on adventures and she makes the most beautiful model.
That's enough blabbering about my life story. I'm interested in yours! You're graduating!
What are you planning on doing or are you cool just seeing where life takes you for now?
I'd love to get to know your story because that's really what this is all about, can't wait to get to know and meet you guys!
